Our Story

The Butternut Valley Arts and Crafts Center in Morris, NY began with one person’s vision of having a central location where lovers of arts and crafts could congregate and take classes.  In 1971, one of Morris’ historic properties was donated and classes began.  Fabric and needle arts, oil and acrylic painting, printmaking, drawing, stained glass, watercolor studies, folk art,  and creating pysanky eggs are only a few of the many classes that have been offered during it’s first 50 years of existence.

Looking forward to the next generations of art and craft aficionados, BVACC is working to continue offering new and exciting classes for adults and children.  It supports the Arts through scholarships for art classes and for students pursuing a career in Art.  We afford instruction opportunities to rural people without much access to Art.  A main emphasis is placed on subsidizing the cost of classes in order to offer unique and advanced classes that are affordable, as well as updating portions of our building to keep it viable as an arts education facility.
